The Cards of AN – and other Special Treasures from The Heart of AN
Lliclias
Lliclias are colorful woven cloths that are used for a variety of purposes in Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. They are often used as carrying cloths and can hold almost anything when tied diagonally at the opposite corners. Babies are carried in lliclias that are tied around the shoulders of their mothers. For special ceremonies or when it is cold, lliclias serve as capes. Since they are so strong, they also make great dog blankets!
Lliclias are both sacred and practical with strong, positive energy. Their vibrant colors bring the freshness of the New Reality into our lives. And the patterns of their weavings contain codings of remembrance.
Lliclias are strong, gorgeous, durable and machine washable. (With the exception of those woven of alpaca and wool, which can be hand washed.) Our lliclias are made in Peru and Bolivia. The designs come and go without warning; a specific design or color combination might be available for a few months and then never reappear.
At the Heart of AN, we use them for altar cloths and to cover a table or couch. We also hang them on the wall. We sit on them during our ceremonies. We take them hiking in the mountains. They are great for outdoor activities such as ceremonies or picnics. And they make excellent card cloths for readings of the Cards of AN!
